Diversified online broker CMC Markets just confirmed that the company will soon be added to the FTSE250 Index. The news was originally released by the Russell FTSE board that indicated the addition of CMC Markets in the FTSE 250 Index would take place at the beginning of the trading session on Monday June 20, 2016. This news follows the recent successful IPO (Initial Public Offering) on the London Stock Exchange completed by the broker in February of this year. As a reminder, the FTSE 250 Index is a capitalisation-weighted equity index consisting of the 101st to the 350th largest companies listed on the London Stock Exchange. The 100 biggest companies are regrouped in the FTSE 100 Index, which represent the main benchmark for the biggest companies of the LSE in terms of market capitalisation.
This addition to the FTSE 250 Exchange follows the recent CMC Markets IPO
As explained above, CMC Markets officially went public on the London Stock Exchange February 10th 2016. It didn’t take the broker long to reach the required market capitalisation to join the FTSE 250 Index. This addition should boost the trading volume on the FCA regulated broker shares considering the multiple strategies that try to track the performance of this equity index. In an official statement, CMC Markets Founder and CEO Peter Cruddas expressed his enjoyment about the news. « Inclusion in the FTSE 250 Index is another significant milestone for us all at CMC and we look forward to widening our existing strong investor base with new shareholders »
CMC Markets wants to capitalize on this new status
As you may have noticed, online trading platform CMC Markets is trying to capitalize on its new listed and member of the FTSE 250 status with the development of multiple tools over the last months. The broker recently launched an API connection for Institutional FX clients in order to facilitate the segment’s growth. In the retail segment, CMC markets recently added new equities to its CFD offering but also unveiled a full binary options offer with a dedicated binary options trading platform.
CMC Markets is not a member of our ranking yet but we may soon add it as it represents one of the most reliable brokers in the UK. IF you are searching for an alternative to trade binary options with an FCA regulated broker proposing both CFD and binary options, we highly recommend you to have a look at our IG Binary review and our ETX binary review as they are still the market leaders in Europe.
